Astrology that shows its work
Dendera is a research tool for astrology across cultures. It casts charts in the traditions it supports, shows every calculation, and reports what each tradition says about a chart, with a citation for every statement. Where no reviewed rule applies, it says so.
How Dendera works
Calculations you can check
Positions, houses and the techniques a tradition defines, such as dignities, lots and profections, are calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris and shown as data.
A citation for every statement
Each statement Dendera makes about a chart cites a work in its library, so you can read the source for yourself.
Silence over guesswork
Where no reviewed rule covers part of a chart, Dendera says so rather than filling the gap.
Traditions side by side
Each tradition keeps its own frame, its own zodiac and house system, and its own voice. Dendera sets traditions side by side and never blends them into one. A tradition joins once its sources are recorded and its rules are reviewed.
The library
11 public-domain works of astrology so far, from Ptolemy’s Tetrabiblos and William Lilly’s Christian Astrology to Alan Leo and Charles Carter, each with its rights recorded.
The name
Dendera is named for the temple in Egypt whose carved ceiling sets the signs of the zodiac among the star figures of Egypt: one sky, drawn by more than one culture.
